Graduate School
The graduate school
Efficient Algorithms and Multiscale Methods
(GEAM) of the Deutschen Forschungsgemeinschaft
(DFG) has been installed at the
Christian-Albrechts-Universität zu
Kiel (CAU)
and the
Universität Lübeck (UL)
The school has started in April 1998.
The aim of the graduate school is the research and cooperation between mathematics,
computer science and electrical engineering to the subject "Efficient Algorithms and Multiscale Methods".
The research areas are the following:
- Design of efficient algorithms (partial differential equations, combinatorial optimization,
geometry, computer vision and robotics, numerical field computation, circuit simulation,
filter banks and nonlinear control
- adaptivity in numeric analysis and robotics
- multiscale analysis (image and signal processing, physical processes)
- macro/micro structures
- parallel algorithms in numerical analysis and optimization
Study program
In cooperation of mathematics, computer science, electrical engineering of the CAU and mathematics
of the UL all stipendiats are offered a study program, developed only for the graduate school.
The aim is to enable the dissertation within three years.
