Projection constants of symmetric spaces and variants of Khintchine's inequality

The projection constants of the tex2html_wrap_inline24-spaces for tex2html_wrap_inline26 satisfy tex2html_wrap_inline28 with tex2html_wrap_inline30 in the real case and tex2html_wrap_inline32 in the complex case. Further, there is c<1 such that the projection constant of any n-dimensional space tex2html_wrap_inline38 with 1-symmetric basis can be estimated by tex2html_wrap_inline40. The proofs of the results are based on averaging techniques over permutations and a variant of Khintchine's inequality which states that
