Carsten Carstensen, Kerstin Weinberg:

Adaptive Mixed Finite Element Method for Reißner-Mindlin Plate

Mixed finite element methods are designed to overcome shear locking phenomena observed in the numerical treatment of Reißner-Mindlin plate models. In order to improve the approximation behaviour of stable finite element discretisations, automatic adaptive mesh-refining algorithms are an important tool in practice. In this paper, a reliable robust residual-based a posteriori error estimate is derived. The localised error indicators suggest an adaptive algorithm for automatic mesh refinement. Numerical examples prove the new scheme efficient.
