Slantedness: a survey and new results

Under various conditions, several authors have given an affirmative answer to Problem 234 in Statistica Neerlandica: Distributions with a decreasing probability density function have positive centered moments. A survey of the main results published subsequent to Problem 234, of the key tools to obtain them, and of concepts developed in the solving process, is given. New representation and slantedness results for unimodal distributions are added.
