Helmut Harbrecht, Maharavo Randrianarivony:

From Computer Aided Design till Wavelet BEM

The wavelet Galerkin scheme is an efficient method for the numerical solution of boundary integral equations. To construct wavelets on manifolds the parametric description of the given surface is needed. Technical surfaces generated by CAD tools are represented in this form. Nevertheless, thinking of the standard IGES format, often trimmed surfaces appear. We present an algorithm to parametrize also trimmed surfaces in order to apply the wavelet Galerkin scheme. Numerical results are reported to illustrate the approach. In particular, the decomposition techniques are applied to real CAD data which come from IGES files.
